More about Amy
My dad served in the military for 32 years; his example of hard work, dedication, and service, helped me develop the foundation of how I wanted to live my life. My husband, Ben, and I have raised our children with the same sense of patriotism, dedication to service, and work ethic that I saw growing up. As a family, we love to spend our time at our cabin in Willow, hunt, fish and volunteer in our community.
These ideals that guide our family are the same that I have relied upon in my career. It is with a willingness to roll up my sleeves, and work until the job was done, that I was able to build and manage two successful businesses here in Alaska. I understand business and I understand people, and am willing to work hard to accomplish whatever job it is that needs to be done. While working full time and raising a family, I was able to obtain degrees in History and Justice from UAA. I also went on to earn an MBA degree in Finance from Columbia Southern University.
I have never walked into a room an assumed I know it all. I do my homework, ask tough questions, and am willing to take a stand no matter how difficult it may be personally. I truly believe that I understand our community, I know the issues, and I will continue to be a common sense, clear, and stoic voice for the residents of Chugiak and Eagle River.
I believe the fundamental role of government is to provide public safety, build and maintain infrastructure, and provide our children with the opportunity for a quality education. In order to do this, we must have a government that has a fiscally sustainable budget and is accountable for every dollar they spend.
I look forward to talking with my neighbors in Eagle River, Chugiak, Eklutna, Muldoon, and JBER and listening to what is important to them. I am grateful for the outpouring of encouragement and support I have received, and I would be honored if you would re-elect me to continue representing you on the Anchorage Assembly.
